Athletics Update
Dear Clarkstown High School North and South Parents,
I hope this email finds you and your families healthy and well.
Our priority in facilitating any athletic event is to keep all students, staff, and community members safe and healthy.
As you are aware, we are working to phase in spectators at our athletics events. As our season progresses, our intention was to move to “Phase 2” of the spectator plan this week. Phase 2 allows two spectators for each home team athlete for North and South games.
Unfortunately at this time, due to COVID-19 related concerns, the Clarkstown Central School District is forced to put this plan on pause. As you may be aware, COVID-19 related events have caused the shift of seven Clarkstown schools from in-person hybrid to all remote instruction, with four schools reporting cases yesterday.
The District is continuing to monitor the situation. Discussions will take place on Monday, November 2nd to determine if, at that point, entering Phase 2 will provide for a safe environment for all spectators, staff, and student athletes.
We are excited to be able to give students the opportunity to participate in athletics. We realize this has been a difficult season and appreciate your support in understanding the reasons for this temporary pause. We will continue to record all home games and make them available to the public.
We will provide an update next week.
Thank you.
Stay strong! Stay Healthy!
Sincerely,
Chris Serra, Ed.D.
