Lakewood Returns to Hybrid Monday, November 16th
Dear Lakewood Parents, Guardians and Staff,
This is an update to our communication Friday informing you that two students at Lakewood Elementary School tested positive for COVID-19 and were in school A cohort days Wednesday and Thursday, during their infectious period. In addition, on Friday evening, we received confirmation of an additional student at Lakewood Elementary School who tested positive for COVID-19 and was in school A cohort days Wednesday and Thursday, during the infectious period.
Students and staff members who were determined to have close contact with the students during the school day were contacted directly, as well as students on all buses impacted. The Rockland County Department of Health will continue to conduct contact tracing to identify those external to the school environment.
As a result of this action, 11 staff members have been identified as close contacts and will need to quarantine. Due to these unavoidable absences, in addition to the existing staff shortages at Lakewood Elementary, the school does not have the appropriate number of personnel to offer a hybrid model of instruction at this time.
As a result, Lakewood Elementary School building will be closed throughout the quarantine period which ends Monday, November 16th. Students and staff will continue with remote learning throughout the building closure and return to hybrid instruction on Monday, November 16th, which is an A day.
Stay strong! Stay healthy!
Sincerely,
Deborah Mariniello
