Capital Projects Update - March 31, 2017

Dear Clarkstown Parents, Guardians and Staff:

In January, we announced that much needed infrastructure and building upgrades to our schools would begin this spring. This is a follow up to that communication and one of many updates you will receive as the work progresses.

We are excited to begin the roofing projects at North HS and Felix Festa MS, boiler replacements at North HS, South HS, and Birchwood and upgrades of the primary electrical systems at North HS. In addition, we are finalizing the plans for the auditorium seat replacements this summer at South HS and Felix Festa MS.

On-site work will begin over the Spring Break in April and outside of school hours during May and June, with no disruption to testing and academic schedules. The bulk of the work will take place during July through mid-August.

Each phase will require limited asbestos abatement and remediation, specifically in boiler rooms and isolated components of the roof. These plans have been approved by the New York State Education Department Facilities Planning group. Work will be done by licensed professionals in compliance will all state and federal safety and regulatory standards.

I look forward to our continued partnership as we create an enhanced environment for educational excellence for all students.

Sincerely,

Martin D. Cox Signature
