An Important Message From the Board of Education

September 14th, 2021

Dear Clarkstown Community Members,

The Clarkstown Board of Education would like to welcome back our community for the opening of the 2021-22 school year. We want to express our appreciation to every CCSD staff member as they work to make this a successful school year.

At tonight’s Board of Education meeting, the Board appointed our Assistant Superintendent for Personnel, Mr. Jeff Sobel, as the Acting Interim Superintendent of Schools. Mr. Sobel has agreed to fill this leadership position until an Interim Superintendent or a new Superintendent is appointed. We remain confident that a new Superintendent for our district will be in place for the start of the 2022-23 academic year.

In the meantime, the entire Board of Education and our Administration remains focused on working with our community on the essential priorities of keeping our students and staff safe; closing the learning gap; addressing the social and emotional needs of our students, staff and parents; minimizing disruptions to in-person instruction; and, assuring a continuum of instruction for students in quarantine. We have allocated additional resources to address these priorities, with the objective of making certain that our students continue to receive the high-quality education for which Clarkstown is known.

We thank Dr. Cox for his service to the Clarkstown Central School District over the last five years and wish him much success in his future endeavors.
