Facilities Usage Update

June 17, 2021

Dear Clarkstown Community,

As we approach the end to the 2020-21 school year, and a summer filled with family activities and well-earned relaxation, we are also looking ahead to our return next fall. I’m eager to welcome all of our families back to full time, in-person learning on September 1, and to the excitement of a new year filled with possibilities.

Along with our planning for next year, the Clarkstown Central School District will continue to loosen many of the COVID-19 mitigation strategies that we have had in place during the pandemic. Starting on July 1, outside organizations that support CCSD student activities will be permitted to re-enter our buildings. Starting in September, CCSD is pleased to welcome back JCC Rockland’s "Beyond the Bell" and the Rockland County YMCA School Age Child Care (SACC) programs to our schools. (For specific details of these programs, visit jccrockland.org or rocklandymca.org)

As you know, the governor’s executive order still requires masks for all in school settings for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year.

Over the summer, the New York State Education Department (NYSED) and New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) will provide more guidance for the fall. I have every reason to believe that things will continue to improve, as even more people are vaccinated, including our younger students as vaccines become available to them. Please watch for updates throughout the summer. I am hopeful that State officials will no longer require the usage of face coverings inside our schools this fall.

As we celebrate the triumphs of over 7,800 students in completing the 2020-21 academic year, I want to take a moment to thank the entire Clarkstown Central School District community for their extraordinary dedication during a uniquely challenging year.

Thank you.

Stay strong! Stay healthy!

Martin Cox, Ed.D.
