Deborah Mariniello Appointed as Principal of Lakewood Elementary
Dear Lakewood Elementary Faculty, Staff and Parents:
I am pleased to inform you that the Board of Education appointed Deborah Mariniello as Principal of Lakewood Elementary at last night's Board of Education meeting, effective July 13.
Ms. Mariniello was selected as the new principal following a rigorous, multi-step interview process. Presently, Ms. Mariniello is the Principal of Dows Lane Elementary School in the Irvington Union Free School District. She has been in this role for the past four years following assignments as an Assistant Principal at Dows Lane Elementary and Irvington High School.
Ms. Mariniello, formerly an elementary school teacher in both the Carmel Central School District and the Yonkers Public Schools, comes to Clarkstown with 25 years of experience as an educator.
I am thankful for the involvement of faculty, staff and parents during our interview process that varied from one stage of the process to the next. During the site visit by Ms. Mariniello, I appreciated teachers welcoming her into the classroom to see instruction delivered to students. Teachers were very helpful by participating in the performance based interview when Ms. Mariniello led a meeting that allowed her to immerse team members within a discussion about instruction. In addition, the feedback by teachers, staff and parents following the interviews enhanced our process.
As Ms. Mariniello prepares to begin her transition to Clarkstown, I will thank all of you in advance for welcoming her to your school and supporting her success.
I am excited to have Ms. Mariniello become the new Principal at Lakewood Elementary and I wish her the best in her new leadership endeavor.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Martin D. Cox
Superintendent of Schools
