Student Representatives Honored at Board Meeting

Student Representatives Brian Huan and Matthew Jaynes

From the Superintendent's Blog  -

Board of Education President Michael Aglialoro and I had the great opportunity to recognize and thank the student representatives at last night's Board meeting.

Seniors Matthew Jaynes and Brian Huang from Clarkstown High School North, and Wenlu Zheng of Clarkstown High School South represented their schools throughout the school and did an exemplary job sharing information pertaining to updated news from their respective schools.

Mr. Aglialoro presented to Matthew Jaynes and Brian Huang, who were in attendace for last night's meeting, with a gift from the Board.

I added to the presentation by talking about my impressions of each student, foremost, the fact that all three provide service to the community in a variety of ways.

I complimented Matthew and Brian for their leadership with the Superintendent's Student Advisory Council (SAC) by facilitating several of the monthly meetings during the course of the year. In addition, I thanked Matthew for his work that included coordinating, creating, assessing and presenting a student survey on the topic of homework at the May SAC meeting. Lastly, I also shared my appreciation for Matthew and the leadership he provided alongside his classmates while hosting the Forethought Talks at Clarkstown High School North in May.

Wenlu Zheng will attend Tufts University in the fall, Matthew Jaynes will attend Duke University and Brian Huang will attend Union College.  I wish all three students the very best with their academic endeavors going forward.
