Spectator Policy - Fall 2 Sports

Good Afternoon Clarkstown Community,

We are excited that our student athletes from the Fall 2 sports of Football, Cheer, Dance, Girls Swimming, and Boys and Girls Volleyball will have the opportunity to participate in upcoming contests and are pleased to share information regarding spectator attendance procedures.

We ask for your cooperation in adhering to these procedures to help ensure the health and safety or our fans, athletes and staff, and as the District works towards returning all students to in-person instruction.

For the outdoor sports of Football, Cheer, and Dance, two spectators per home team senior athlete only will be permitted in the bleacher area to view the game.

For the indoor sports of Girls Swimming and Boys and Girls Volleyball, two spectators per home team senior athlete only will be permitted in the bleacher area to view the game.

Visiting spectators, and parents of non-senior home athletes, will not be permitted on campus to attend contests.

The management of the COVID-19 pandemic requires a community effort.  As I desire to bring back all students, K-12, inside 6-feet social distancing, doing so will require everyone to do their part with health and safety protocols: appropriate social distancing, mask wearing, handwashing and the avoidance of large gatherings. That said, our Health and Safety Team, in partnership with the Athletic Department, cannot support large gatherings at this time.

Presently, the Rockland County COVID-19 infection rate is 6.32%, the highest in New York State. The number of daily cases per 100,000 in Rockland County is 52, an increase of 24% over a 14-day period. By comparison, Westchester County has a decrease of 15%. In addition, since February 26, the District has experienced 41 positive cases in 12 of our 13 schools which has included infections as well as the need to quarantine over 85 athletes from four separate high risk athletic teams already.

In summary, as with all decisions during the pandemic, we will reflect on the data and make decisions intended to protect the health and safety of students, staff, and community residents.

Clarkstown will continue to stream all games when available.

New York State Department of Health regulations require all spectators perform a wellness screening survey prior to arriving on site.  For your convenience, we ask that all parents of senior athletes wishing to attend our home contests, please access the below QR symbol which will redirect you to the District’s Wellness Screening Form.
