New Sensory Playground Unveiled at Woodglen
Woodglen Elementary School is excited to announce the completion of our new sensory playground! The project was spearheaded by teacher Ms. Kathryn Zebrowski.
"The Sensory Playground idea evolved from my passion to be active. I wanted to create something that provided a variety of activities for students and allowed every student to participate. The idea to create multiple Sensory Playgrounds at Woodglen was born!"
Sensory Playgrounds provide students with opportunities to engage in various movement activities by following painted pathways on the blacktop. The sensory pathways guide students through different movements that help them get rid of excess energy, develop gross motor skills, improve balance, develop spatial awareness and include concepts like counting and the alphabet. The colorful pathways are engaging to students providing them with a variety of activities that every student can participate in.
"I am thankful to the Woodglen PTA who funded this project and for my coworkers who helped me paint the sensory pathways so that I could turn my dream into a reality!"
