(April 20, 2021) West Nyack Elementary Positive COVID Case

Dear West Nyack  Elementary Parents, Guardians and Staff,

We were informed this afternoon that a student at West Nyack  Elementary has tested positive for COVID-19. The student was in school yesterday, Monday, April 19th, which was during his/her infectious period.  The Rockland County Department of Health will be notified and will conduct contact tracing.

Those who were in close contact with the individual while at school have been informed directly by the Principal and School Nurse, and will need to complete the required quarantine.  Impacted areas will be deep cleaned this evening.

The K-B Kindergarten class will be on remote instruction to return to in-person learning on Friday, April 30th.  All other students will continue with in person learning tomorrow, Wednesday April 21st.

This is a reminder that the pandemic is not over and we must continue to practice the mitigating measures that help prevent the spread of the virus to include wearing masks, social distancing, hand washing and hand sanitizer use.

We want to emphasize the importance of completing and reporting your health screening results on Share 911 each day you or your child is in our school building or on our buses.  The webpage can provide more information on this process.

Thank you.
