SHS Positive Case - 100% Remote on Friday March 5, 2021

Dear South High School Parents, Guardians and Staff,

We were informed this afternoon that a student at South High School tested positive for COVID-19.  The student was in school on Monday, March 1st which was during their infectious period. The Rockland County Department of Health has been notified and will conduct contact tracing.

Those who were in close contact with the student while at school have been informed directly by the Principal, school nurses or a school administrator and were provided the guidelines regarding quarantine.

Based on the significant number of staff impacted by this incident as well as the cumulative effect of the eight cases in the past week, South High School will be on remote instruction for Friday, March 5th.

We will send a follow up communication on Friday to update you on the return of students to in person instruction.

These cases are reminders that the pandemic is not over and we must continue to practice the mitigating measures that help prevent the spread of the virus, including wearing face coverings, social distancing and washing or sanitizing hands.

Please remember to complete the Share 911 questions each morning before you or your students leave home for school.
