Early Dismissal FFMS 8th Grade Students (D School) at 12 Noon - March 4, 2021

Dear Felix Festa Parents, Guardians and Staff,

We were informed a short time ago that an 8th grade student (D School) at Felix Festa Middle School has tested positive for COVID-19. The individual was in school Thursday and Friday, February 25th and 26th, which was during his/her infectious period.  The Rockland County Department of Health will be notified and will conduct contact tracing.

To allow appropriate time to identify close contacts, the Felix Festa 8th grade students (D school) will have an early dismissal today at 12:00pm.  Remote learning will resume today at 12:58 PM for all D School students. D School lunch will not be provided due to the dismissal time.

Felix Festa Middle School 6th and 7th grade (A and C schools) will hold in their current classrooms until the 8th grade dismissal at noon. They will then resume with their schedule for the remainder of the day.

Those who were in close contact with the individual while at school are being identified and will be informed directly by the Principal, Schools Nurses and Coordinator of Health Services and will be provided the guidelines regarding quarantine.

School will resume for all students in (A, C and D Schools) on the regular schedule tomorrow, Friday, March 5th.

The District has a multi-layer approach to keeping our students and staff safe. Wearing masks, social distancing, hand washing and hand sanitizer use are important safety measures we are taking at all of our schools.

We want to emphasize the importance of completing and reporting your health screening results each day you or your child is in our school building or on our buses.  The webpage www.ccsd.edu/share911 can provide more information on this process.

Thank you.

Stay strong! Stay healthy!

Sincerely,

Diane Mitchell, Ed.D.
