Welcome To The 2017-18 School Year - A Message from the Superintendent of Schools
Dear Parents:
Welcome to the 2017-18 school year!
I hope your child(ren) found the first day of school to be a rewarding experience. The start of the new year brings with it hope, optimism and learning opportunities for our students.
Yesterday, our Convocation program involved all District employees coming together at the South High School auditorium. Our theme for the program was Be the Inspiration. The guest speaker, U.S. Marine Corporal Megan Leavey of Valley Cottage, delivered a message about resiliency, effort, and never giving up.
As we embark on a new school year together, our teachers and staff are committed to inspire every student to achieve their full potential.
I was excited to visit all of our 13 schools in the District today while entering classrooms and engaging in conversations with students, teachers, staff and administrators. I appreciate the welcoming and nurturing environments I observed in all of our schools. In addition, I am thankful for the work of our Transportation Department who provided our students safe travels.
As the year progresses, let’s work to enhance our professional partnership on a daily basis while making decisions in the best interest of our students.
Make it a great year!
Sincerely,
Martin D. Cox
Superintendent of Schools
