SHS Closed Weds. and Thurs. and Quarantine Required

Dear South High School Parents, Students and Staff,

We were just informed that a student at South High School in the ‘B’ Cohort  tested positive for COVID-19.  The Department of Health has been notified and we are following the appropriate protocols.

South High School will be closed tomorrow and Thursday for all cohorts to allow time to notify students and staff who had direct exposure to the positive case and for contact tracing.  The school will pivot to a full remote learning schedule for all students and staff. Instruction will begin at the normal time of 7:25 a.m.

We are requesting that all students and staff in the ‘B’ Cohort quarantine. Those individuals with direct exposure will be contacted directly. In addition, the Boys JV and Varsity Soccer teams will need to quarantine as well, regardless of the players’ assigned cohort. We anticipate this process will be completed by 1 p.m. tomorrow.  Subsequently, we will send confirmation to the entire ‘B’ Cohort so those that weren’t deemed close contacts can release from quarantine.

All in-person after school activities are cancelled while the school building is closed.

We appreciate your anticipated cooperation as we follow the appropriate procedures developed and implemented by the District under the guidance of the local Health Department.
