School Closed Until April 15
Dear Clarkstown Community Members:
I hope this communication finds you and your families healthy, and in good spirits.
In the event you are not aware, Governor Cuomo announced that schools in New York State will remain closed until April 15.
As the COVID-19 health and safety crisis continues, I want to express my thanks and appreciation to all of you as we persevere together, day by day, hour by hour. Despite not having answers to all of our questions during this time of uncertainty, we grow stronger together each day by forging ahead and doing our very best to tackle the obstacles that stand in our way.
Our faculty members are working diligently to provide instruction on a daily basis. Some parents have inquired about their desire to have all teaching in a live, two-way, real-time interaction. As a reminder, this approach is optional for our faculty. Much like all of our neighboring districts, we are utilizing a variety of tools and platforms. Our curriculum team, in collaboration with other district staff, are engaged in activities to enhance our ability to reach all of our learners.
I want to emphasize that everyone is doing their very best as they strive to meet the learning needs of students during challenging circumstances, while they are dealing with the crisis themselves. Families should utilize teacher office hours from 9 -11:30 a.m. to receive more assistance if required.
As we move forward, please look for updates in writing as we keep you informed during this crisis. My thoughts and prayers continue for our school community and global society.
Stay Strong! Stay Healthy!
Sincerely,
Martin D. Cox, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
