CFRC Thanksgiving Drive A Success
Annual Family Resource Center Thanksgiving Drive A Success
Each year the Clarkstown Family Resource Center (CFRC) collaborates with members of the Clarkstown Central School District to organize a Thanksgiving food drive for local families. This year, the collection faced a challenge without the use of schools as drop off centers, but the spirit of the season prevailed.
“It was really amazing how everyone came together to ensure the success of this program,” said Lisa Cohen, Executive Director, CFRC. “From students and families, to board members and staff we saw an outpouring of support.”
Thanks to the overwhelming response from the CCSD community, the CFRC handed out nearly 100 Thanksgiving food bags to CCSD families in need. This is the largest distribution to date.
Donations of nonperishable food and holiday items were collected and dropped off at CFRC staff and board member homes. They were then packed, assembled and finished off with festive ribbons with the help of eighth grade students from Felix Festa Middle School.
“We are so grateful for everyone who contributed and enabled the CFRC to continue to support Clarkstown families and spread Thanksgiving joy,” said Cohen. The CFRC plans to organize similar opportunities for support during the December holidays for those families in need during this difficult time.
The Clarkstown Family Resource Center is a non-profit organization that works within the Clarkstown Central School District and provides family support services and outreach to students and families in need.
