The Benson Sisters
The Benson sisters, Chloe, Grade 2, Emily, Grade 3 and Georgia, Kindergarten were recognized at the Clarkstown Town Council Meeting Tuesday evening for the following Student Actions:
Backpack Drive
They packed and delivered 10,000 backpacks with supplies in August with Precision Concierge of New York (PCNY). The backpacks were distributed throughout the five boroughs to Foster Care Unplugged, an organization that works with children in the foster system.
Turkey drive
The helped organize the collection of 5,500 turkeys and 10,000 pounds of produce in November to various organizations, included but not limited to The City of Yonkers City Council for various shelters,community centers, senior citizen homes and assisted communities throughout Yonkers, Bronx, Harlem, New York City and Philadelphia. This was a joint effort with PCNY and The Garden of Eden Foundation.
Homeless /Coat drive
They also helped feed the homeless with PCNYINTHESTREETS, a division of PCNY that allows the girls to directly feed the homeless and less fortunate in NYC every Wednesday night. The girls Collected 296 coats through a coat drive in school and throughout the community this past November. Every year the girls solicit sponsors for the drives and physical packs and distribute to the various locations.
Michelle Benson, mother of the Benson sisters, played an important role while providing these community service opportunities for her children.
