Link IB World School Hosts Community/Veteran Winter Brunch

2018 Winter Senior Brunch 1 On November 28, 2018, students at Link IB World School, of the Clarkstown Central School District, hosted their 17th Annual Senior Citizen/Veteran Celebration. Senior citizens from the Clarkstown/Pearl River Senior Center and Veterans were invited to enjoy a brunch in their honor.  The entire student body took part in this celebration-making table and wall displays, writing cards of gratitude, greeting and serving guests, and putting on performances that could match that of Broadway. The PTA provided a delicious hot brunch that was served by 4th grade students.

2018 Winter Senior Brunch 3 Principal Francine Cuccia welcomed the guests, “This is our way of saying “thank you”  (to the community’s senior citizens and veterans), we appreciate and value all you give to our children, community and great nation. As with my family’s Italian tradition, the “meal” is a celebration of family and friends. Thank you for joining us to share a meal today!”

Today’s event was truly a community affair.  Joining us from the CCSD were Superintendent of Schools, Martin Cox; Assistant Superintendent for Personnel, Jeff Sobel; Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, Susan Yom; Board of Education members Walter Litvak, Tammy Bierker, and Irene Tagaris. 2018 Senior Brunch 2   Clarkstown was well represented by Rockland County Executive, Mr. Ed Day; Clarkstown Town Supervisor, George Hoehmann; NYS Assemblyman, Ken Zebrowski Jr.; Vice Chair of Clarkstown Parks Board and Recreation Commission, Scott Milich; and Veterans Coordinator Chip Hayes.

2018 Winter Senior Brunch 4 The ideals of our IB World School, collaboration, commitment, community service and student agency filled the large room with over 75 guests! A special thanks to  Mrs. Cindy Kimmel who directed the musical entertainment and student concerts and to Mrs. Maloney who organized the day! The kindergartners, second graders, and fifth graders presented heart-warming winter themed and patriotic performances. Link PYP Coordinator Danielle Jackson in conjunction with Link’s student council emceed the event. Parent and student volunteers from the Link School community warmly welcomed the seniors and veterans, and set up and served the brunch. It was a Winter Brunch to warm the hearts of all in attendance!
