Thank you Clarkstown Community
Dear Clarkstown School Community:
We are writing to express our thanks and appreciation to the community for approving the 2020-21 School Budget and for allowing us to continue to maintain a savings account to be used for future potential facility improvements.
We would also like to congratulate elected Board of Education Members Zizette Deutsch and David Gosman.
We know that many in our school community have been seriously affected personally and financially by the pandemic. We would like to offer our special gratitude to those families for supporting our work during this difficult time. As we look to the future, we will continue our focus on providing responsible fiscal stewardship in all areas of school operations.
The approved Budget will provide the necessary funding to support our ongoing work associated with our four District Goals: Academics, Social Emotional Learning, Capacity Building and Safety.
2020-21 Budget highlights:
- Maintains current staffing and programming
- May utilize more than $3.5M in savings from pandemic school building closures to offset 2020-21 expenses allowing funds from District Reserves to lower tax impact and cover anticipated New York State Aid reductions
- Reduce, Pause, Resume fiscal management program to be implemented for 2020-21
https://www.ccsd.edu/budget - Annual School Tax increase of 1.4% is less than NYS CPI increase of 1.81%
As we turn our attention to planning reopening of our schools in the fall, we will be communicating and partnering with parents, staff and students as we develop plans to safely return students to their programs, their teachers and their schools.
As always, we welcome the opportunity to enhance our partnership in education, with all stakeholders, to meet the needs of all students.
Sincerely,
Tamara Bierker
