    • The Boys Varsity Tennis Team had a thriller of a 3 hour match against Nyack at home yesterday in the Section Quarterfinals. The star duo Dan Squared, featuring Daniel Choi and Daniel Mastalerz had a strong start with a 6-2 first set and a 7-3 tiebreak victory in the second set to take the first game. Dan claims he wanted to make it more entertaining. After losing 3 other games and being faced with elimination, South needed to run the table, and they did. Captain Devan Shah, rallied back from getting clobbered in the first set and being down 1-4 in the second set to win his game in the third set tiebreak. The dynamic duo of Shri Hegde and Sam Manne used their superior skill and athleticism to follow suit, winning their match in a 10-8 3rd set tiebreak. After being down 3-0, South was now 3-3, and it all came down to the freshman twins Jessy and Tyler Kurtz, who not only had just lost the first set 3-6, but now had the entirety of South and Nyack's teams, along with many spectators, to play in front of. Despite the pressure, the freshman duo won the second set 6-2 and the third set tiebreak 10-6, including a comeback from being down 0-4, and secured South's spot in the Section Semifinals, in which they will play Scarsdale today! Good Luck Vikings!
