Parents and students packed the cafetorium on March 18, 2019 for the West Nyack Elementary Science Expo.
Walking in the aisles between rows of tables, visitors listened to the students present the results of numerous experiments they had recently completed. In addition to their oral presentations, students provided parents further insight while referencing the pictures and artifacts connected to their poster boards. The experiments were connected to the following catergories: Chemical Science; Earth; Electricity; Life; and Physics.
While visiting with students, I learned the results of their experiments: Pop Rocks Expander; Gummy Bear Science; The Fastest Egg; Which Solution Prevents Apples from Browning?;Geodes; The Race - Salt vs. Pepper.
The Science Expo Committee included Maria Cavaliere, Sara Fine, Kristin Hanley, Elyse Hausner, Alana Murphy, Laura Pestone, and Melissa Tsironis.
West Nyack Elementary Principal Annie Streiff commented, "I am so proud of you for pursuing your intellectual curiousity, and for setting the example for all of your fellow students by creating your projects for the Second Annual WNES Science Expo. Thank you for all of your hard work, and thank you to all of the grown-ups who helped you along the way to make your exhibits interesting, fun, and scientifically specially - especially moms and dads. Most especially, thank you to all the WNES grown-ups who made this event possible!"
