    TODAY: 

    • First weekly National History Day meeting for eighth graders in D109 during Period 4 lunch.  Choose an odd day when you and/or your group can attend and come regularly on that day.  The meetings will continue on a weekly basis until competition in March.
    • The after school Mural Painting session is cancelled for today.

    Thurday, October 12:

    • Seventh Grade Student Council meeting at 8:15 a.m. in Ms. Cleary's room. 
    • Peer Leaders and Ambassadors meeting at 8:00 a.m. in the back cafeteria.  Please come hungry.  A representative from the NY Blood Center will be discussing our upcoming Blood Drive.
    • Dignity for All Alliance meeting in B102 after school until 4:30 p.m.
    • Junior Sports Management Club meeting after school in B107.  The meeting will be over in time for the late bus.
    • Informational meeting for students interested in participating in Modified or Varsity Ice hockey at 3:45 p.m., in the far cafeteria.  Bring your helmet for reconditioning.  Loaner helmets will be issued for those in need.  Arrange for your transportation home.  For more information contact Dr. Serra.  

    SCHOOL PICTURES will be taken this Thursday and Friday, during students' regular gym periods.  Bring your completed order form on that day.

    Next Week:

    The FFMS Student Council will be taking orders for Pink T-Shirts as part of our annual Pink Day Fundraiser to support Making Strides Against Cancer and for members of our community battling cancer.  Shirts are $10.00  Order forms will be available outside the cafeterias.

    Wednesday, October 11:   SADD Club will meet after school in B102.

    Thursday, October 12:  Grade 7 Student Council meeting at 8:15 a.m. in Ms. Cleary's Room 

    SCHOOL PICTURES are Thursday and Friday, October 12 and 13.  Students will be taking their pictures during their scheduled gym times.  Order forms were mailed home and should have been received by now.  Students should bring their order forms to school on their picture day.

    BOOKSHELF BATTLES:  Do you love a good book?  Are you into trivia?  Would you like to prove how much you know and maybe win a prize?  Sign up for the first competition of the year in the Bookshelf Battles to take place on Friday, October 27.   Sixth graders will compete on the book, The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan.  Seventh and eighth graders will compete on the book, The Maze Runner, by James Dashner.  See Mrs. Chan or Mrs. Loftus in the library for further details.

    Attention All Sixth Graders:  The first meeting of the Sixth Grade Student Council will be Period 5 on Wednesday, October 4, in B112.  Bring your lunch with you.

    Wednesday, September 27: 

    • The first meeting of the year for the Festa Glee Club after school in B117.  All grades and all singers are welcome.  Members select their own music to perform.  
    • Optional Onlooker typing meeting in the library after school for those who need time to type their articles.  (Articles are due on Friday.)
    • The S.A.D.D. (Students Against Destructive Decisions) Club will hold its first meeting of the school year after school in B102.  You'll be out in time for the late bus.

    TODAY:   An informational meeting for the school newspaper, The Onlooker, will take place after school in the library classroom for all students who would like to discuss their article topics or have any questions.  You will be dismissed in time for the late bus. 

    Wednesday, September 20:   There will be a brief meeting for all seventh and eighth grade Peer Leaders and Peer Leader Ambassadors, during your lunch period to discuss the upcoming Back To School Night.

    Next Week:   Calling All 7th Graders!  Are you interested in being a leader?  If so, join the 7th Grade Student Council.  The first meeting will be on Thursday, September 28, at 8:15 a.m. in C216.  Please see Ms. Cleary in C216 for more information.

    Dignity for All Alliance  Do you care about making Felix Festa Middle School a safe place for all students?  Join the Dignity for All Alliance!  Come to the first meeting on Thursday, September 14, in B102 right after school and learn what it is all about.  We have no place for hatte at Felix Festa - be a part of the change.

    Grade 6 Meet the Teacher Night - Tonight  If your sixth grader is in the Cultural Exploratory World Language program or in a Spanish IA class, please report to the Black and White Cafeteria tonight instead of your child's classroom.

    CLUB NEWS:

    School Newspaper - "The Onlooker"  Anyone interested in becoming part of our school newspaper is invited to our first meeting on Wednesday, September 13, in the Library.  You'll be out in time for the late bus (4:10 p.m.)

    Sports Management Club  Interested in the NFL?  Want to manage your own team and meet other students from all grades?  The first meeting will be on Tuesday, September 12, right after school in A204.  Questions?  See Mr. Murphy or Mr. Greenberg in A School

    National History Club  This club is open to students in all grades interested in participating in the National History Day Contest this year.  Beginning next week, we will meet in the morning on odd days in C217.

    Attention all 7th and 8th graders interested in playing a Fall Sport:  Tryouts will begin this week.  All students must have signed up online and be cleared by the nurse in order to participate. 

    Football will begin Wednesday, September 6,  and all players will meet in the B Wing Gym.

    All other sports will begin on Thursday, September 7.   This includes Soccer, Volleyball, Field Hockey, Cross Country and Girls Tennis.  Please bring all equipment you will need to practice on Thursday.  Any equipment can be dropped off in the gym closet before school starts.

    Yearbook Sale:  Surplus yearbooks will be sold during the 6th, 7th and 8th grade lunch periods (in the cafeteria hallway) on June 8, 9 and 12, only while supplies last.   We only have about 80 books left, so don't miss out!  Please send a check made out to CCSD, or cash, in with your child.   The books are $45.

    NEXT WEEK - Fall Sports Meetings (During Lunch Periods) in the auditorium on the following days:

    • 6th and 7th Grades will meet on Wednesday, June 7th

    These meetings are for all students who want to try out for fall sports.  The sports offered are:  Tennis, Football, Soccer, Field Hockey, Volleyball, Girls Swimming and Cross Country.

    Attention Eighth Graders:  Tickets for the Eighth Grade Dance will go on sale beginning Thursday, May 25, during Period 4 Lunch.  The cost is $17.00 - cash or check.  Bring payment and completed permission slip to purchase your ticket.

    The Buy One Get One Free Book Sale, which runs through Thursday, is happening in our Library.  You can shop before school, during your lunch period and after school.

    The S.A.D.D. Club will meet after school on Thursday, May 25, in B102.

    The Italian Club will meet after school in C106 on Thursday, May 25.

    Thursday, May 25, is the last day to bring in your donations for the Hi Tor Animal Shelter.  Donations should be dropped off in A101.

    The FFMS Book Club will meet after school on Wednesday, May 31, in the Library Extension to discuss: Coraline by Neil Gaiman.  All are welcome.

    Attention all 7th and 8th graders! Clarkstown South’s World Travel Club is going to the following destinations: Ireland-England-Scotland (2018), Costa Rica (2019), and Mexico (2020), and we’d like you to join us, and, of course, future North students are welcome. You may sign up now but you may not travel until you are in the 9th grade. The parent meeting is Thursday, April 20 at 6:45 pm in room 213. Email mdelucia@ccsd.edu for more information.
