    ALLERGIES
If your child has any allergies, please notify the school nurse.  As peanut allergies become more and more prevalent, please do not send any type or peanut snack in with your child.  Simply touching peanut oil residue can be life threatening to some children with peanut allergies.

    LICE
Head lice seem to multiply in the summer and fall months due to sleepovers at friends and sleepover camp. Please check your child's head frequently starting at the nape of the neck and behind the ears. If you treat your child for head lice please notify the school nurse immediately.

    MEDICAL / DENTAL
Medical and Dental Exams are required for all students in Kindergarten, First, Third, and Fifth grades and new entrants. School screenings will be done by a school doctor for those who do not return private exam forms.

    MEDICATIONS
The policy of the Clarkstown Central School District regarding children taking medication during the school day is as follows:
Medicine must be brought in it's original container with the child's name, dosage and frequency clearly indicated on it along with a written prescription signed by the child's doctor.

    RASH
If your child has a rash that is itchy or oozing, please keep him or her home and contact your physician.  A note from your physician is necessary for your child to return to school.

    STREP THROAT
If your child has a throat culture done at the physician's office, please keep him/her home until you have the results.  CCSD's policy is that a student can only return to school after 24 hours on an antibiotic, no physician's note required.

    TEMPERATURE
If your child has a temperature over 100 degrees in the evening or morning before school and shows signs of an illness such as a cough or sore throat, please keep him or her home and seek the advice of your physician if necessary.  A child should remain home for an additional 24 hours after an elevated temperature returns to normal.
