EMERGENCY / CANCELLATION NOTIFICATION RESOURCES

  • When school must be closed due to inclement weather or other emergencies, announcements are made through a variety of media:

The decision to close or delay openings is made after consultation with local police, the highway department, various weather services, and the transportation department.  Should the number of days of inclement weather closings exceed the number of days provided, the excess days will be made up.

    2018-19 Adverse Weather Condition Days
Four adverse weather condition days are built into the school calendar in the event that schools must be closed for bad weather.

    • If closings exceed four days: Friday, March 22 (change from Superintendent's Conference Day to Early Release Day); Friday, May 24; Friday, April 26; Thursday, April 25; Wednesday, April 24; Tuesday, April 23, will be used in that order, as school days.
    • If four or fewer snow days are used: March 22, Superintendent's Conference Day, is a Parent Conference Day and April 10 is an Early Release Day.

    • If more than four snow days are used: March 22 and April 10 are Early Release Days with afternoon Parent Conferences.
