Dr. Matthew Younghans

Welcome! It is my pleasure to welcome you and your child to the 2021-2022 school year!  The past two years have been years unlike we have seen before, and I hope you, your children, and your family are safe, healthy, and well. In addition, I hope you were able to find some time to have a somewhat enjoyable, restful summer and are now ready to begin a new school year at Little Tor Elementary School in a positive way.

My priority on a daily basis is to ensure that every student in our school community is provided the highest quality of education possible in a safe, comfortable, and supportive learning environment.  Working together as a team with our staff and parents, I am committed to helping each student achieve his/her very best.  Every student is valued and worthy of our collective best efforts, and through our teamwork, we can together watch each child grow to their fullest potential in every aspect of their lives; adademically, socially, and emotionally.

I believe that communication, although always important, is now crucial to the success of each school year given the updates, changes, and information that must be passed along to you as parents and families. Please note that much of our correspondence on procedures and protocols will be via email, and they will be as frequent as necessary. You should be receiving emails from me updating you on the most current information at least once per week.

To that end, if you have not already done so, I encourage you to become a member of our Parent Teacher Association.  Our newly elected Co-Presidents, Ms. Lauren DaPonte and Ms. Christine Murphy, alongside the PTA Board and many dedicated volunteers, support our children and our school community through a number of programs, school events, and family-oriented functions.  These events enrich our students’ lives, and provide meaningful, fun opportunities for them to grow and learn. Our goal in support of our PTA is always 100% membership.

I look forward to working collaboratively with you, your children, our staff, and the Little Tor community to ensure that the school year is a positive, engaging, and successful experience for everyone.

Best wishes for a memorable and fulfilling school year!
