The North Store Reopens at CHSN!

Boy at school store

Rams rejoice! The North Store opened this week at CHSN, in a brighter, bigger space stocked with everything from snacks to spirit wear! But the retail space is more than just a spot to refuel between classes. It's a tangible example of the expanded business, Career and Technical Education (CTE) and financial literacy courses offered at the high school, including College Small Business Marketing, Intro to Accounting and College Economics of Personal Finance/Wealth Management. All of which were implemented based on student interest.

Seniors taking College Small Business Marketing H 2 run The North Store and were each assigned a position similar to those you’d find in the retail world—there’s a CFO, a vendor coordinator, a marketer, merchandiser and so forth. The team was able to use the profits from last year’s store to purchase a slushy machine, a deli refrigerator and a host of hot ticket items for Rams to peruse. (If you pop in during October, there’s a plethora of pink-themed merch in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.) “We really want the students to have full autonomy in running the store,” says Science and CTE Department Chair, Jessica Flanagan, who oversees the project—which was inspired by a similar space at South—with her colleague, Mike Cazzari. “We want everyone to feel comfortable when they walk in here.”
