Felix Festa Celebrates Arts in Education Week

As part of National Arts in Education Week, art classes at Felix Festa Middle School are kicking off the school year with “get to know you” projects. In Lotte Petricone’s Studio Art class, eighth graders are creating colorful flower tiles, with each student making one piece of a larger design. Four tiles come together to form a flower, and the individual flowers will eventually line the room near the ceiling to create a collaborative mural.

In Heidi Silverstein’s eighth grade class, Falcons are putting their names to work, drawing them in block letters and filling the letters with patterns and designs, while Julie Fanshawe’s sixth graders are doing a similar project, using their names as the foundation for their artwork. From individual tiles to names turned into designs, students are finding their own ways to introduce themselves as the school year gets underway.
