Non-Public School Transportation

To qualify:

• To qualify for busing to a Private (Non-Public) school, parent(s)/guardian(s) and child(ren) must reside within the boundaries of the Clarkstown Central School District. Bus transportation shall be provided for all grades K - 8 students who live .4 (four tenths) of a mile or more from school and grades 9 - 12 students who live 1.40 (one and four tenths) miles or more from school. Additionally the Private (Non-Public) school must be located within 15 miles from the student's in-district home. Please refer to Board of Education Policy 8413 Student Transportation for additional details.
• Student(s) attend kindergarten (must be five years old on or before December 1) .
• Please submit your completed application and required documentation by April 1.

The Annual Request for Transportation to Non-Public Schools can be completed by submitting a hard copy application*. Please make sure that your application includes all of the required documentation. Incomplete applications and those received after April 1 will not be approved. You must submit a separate application for each child who will be receiving transportation.

Yes, all applications must be received no later than April 1 in order to take effect at the start of the school year the following September.

Yes, families moving into the District after April 1 have 30 days after establishing residency to submit a transportation request with documentation.

Yes, a separate application must be completed and submitted before April 1 for each child that requires busing.

The Transportation Department calculates all bus routes using Transfinder Student Transportation Management software. They will notify you if your home is located more than 15 miles from your child's private school location. 

No, private (non-public) school transportation is not provided when Clarkstown schools are closed. Please check the District homepage or CCSD Mobile App for up-to-date information on weather-related and other emergency closings. See the 2024-25 District calendar for Board-approved closings.

Yes, all approved busing registrations expire at the conclusion of each school year. All families requesting busing must re-apply for the next school year no later than April 1 of the current school year.
