Erin's Law

As mandated by New York State's Erin's Law (Chapter 187 of the Laws of 2019), public schools are required to implement child sexual abuse and exploitation prevention education for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. This initiative, named after child sexual abuse survivor and activist Erin Merryn, is designed to provide students, educators, and families with the knowledge and tools to identify, prevent, and respond to child sexual abuse. Trained staff will deliver two lessons per grade level across all buildings during the period of October to May.

What is covered in the curriculum?

Our program aims to protect your child by teaching them to recognize and respond to potential threats like bullying, cyberbullying, abuse, and online risks. The lessons are developed to teach students to recognize risks, seek help from trusted adults, and build resilience. Through age-appropriate activities and engaging lessons, the program empowers them to make informed decisions and stay safe.
