Absentee Ballots (School & Library Votes):
The first day to apply for an absentee ballot for the New City and West Nyack Libraries Annual Budget Vote is November 11, 2024.
Absentee ballots must be returned to the District Clerk's Office by Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at 5pm. Registered voters may request an application for an absentee ballot by downloading it below or calling (845) 639-6455. Completed applications must be received by the District Clerk at least seven days before the election (if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter) or the day before the election (if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter or the voter’s designated agent).

Early Mail Voter Information (School Election/Budget Votes Only):
The first day to apply for an early mail ballot for the Budget Vote and Election is thirty days before the school vote.
Early mail voter ballots must be returned to the District Clerk's Office by Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at 5pm. Registered voters may request an application for an early mail ballot by downloading it below or contacting the District Clerk at (845) 639-6455. Completed applications must be received by the District Clerk at least seven days before the election (if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter) or the day before the election (if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter or the voter’s designated agent).

Board of Education Elections
Information for Prospective School Board Candidates
The Clarkstown Central School District is served by a seven-member Board of Education. The Board, as a legally-constituted body of elected representatives, bears the responsibility of setting policy for the school district. Each member is elected by a public vote and serves a three-year term, without pay. For more information on Board responsibilities, see Policy Series 2000: School Board Governance and Operations.

Process for Prospective School Board Candidates:
Nominating petitions for the May 20, 2025 Board of Education Election must be filed with the District Clerk by TBD at 5pm (30 days before the election). Candidate packets are available in the District Clerk’s Office at 62 Old Middletown Road in New City. See Policy 2120.1 Candidates and Campaigning.

What Prospective School Board Candidates Should Expect:
Board of Education members attend regular meetings, which are typically held twice a month on Thursday evenings. Additional special meetings and workshops may be added to the schedule, as needed. Board members also serve on the Board or District committees.
