Personal Statement
Mrs. Bierker’s forty-nine years as an educator have given her an extensive background in the understanding of how an excellent education enriches the long term achievement of every student. During her many years as the Department Chairperson of School Counseling (Guidance) at Felix Festa Middle School she pushed to have every student achieve their individual potential both academically and emotionally. She directed and produced musicals at FFMS for more than ten years, placing over one hundred and fifty students on stage every year. Her leadership on the Middle School Committee helped facilitate the movement from a Junior High School to a Middle School in 1996. After 9/11 Mrs. Bierker formed and led the Crisis Team at FFMS until she retired. Mrs. Bierker has been honored to receive the Life Member Award, Distinguished Service Award and Outstanding Service award from FFMS and the Clarkstown Council PTA. She was given the award as Outstanding Educator of the year in 2015 by the West Nyack Rotary.

Personal Statement
Dr. Montes was born and raised in New York and is a resident of Congers with his wife and four children.  He received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois in Cultural Anthropology with training in American and Ethnic Studies and is currently an Assistant Professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, CUNY.

Dedicated to student empowerment, Dr. Montes serves as the Director of a University-wide faculty-led study abroad program that combines academic study with practical field work. Dr. Montes is also a Faculty Advisor for the National Society for Leadership and Success. Locally, he has served as a parent member of the Equity for All CHSN committee and has served as a volunteer basketball coach for the Clarkstown Parks and Recreation Department.

Brian’s two sons and oldest daughter are all graduates of CHSN. His youngest daughter currently attends New City Elementary School.
