Information for Prospective School Board Candidates

  • The Clarkstown Central School District is served by a seven-member Board of Education. The Board, as a legally constituted body of elected representatives, bears the responsibility of setting policy for the school district. Each Board member is elected by a public vote and serves a three-year term without pay.     Process for Prospective School Board Candidates
    Nominating petitions for the May 16, 2023 Board of Education Election must be filed with the District Clerk by April 17, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. (30 days before election). Candidate packets are available from the District Clerk’s office at 62 Old Middletown Road, New City, New York. 


    What Prospective School Board Candidates Should Expect
    Board of Education members attend Regular meetings, which are typically held on Thursday evenings twice monthly. Additional Special meetings and Workshops may be added to the schedule, as needed. Board members also serve on the Board or District committees.
