Freshman Orientation Letter

  • July 18, 2022

Dear Class of 2026 Students and Families,

We are pleased to welcome our newest Vikings as incoming students to Clarkstown High School South. In order to make the transition to Clarkstown South a positive experience, we are inviting members of the Class of 2026 to South’s Freshmen Orientation Day on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at 9 a.m.

Our goal of the day is to prepare our incoming ninth graders for the expectations of high school life academically, socially and emotionally. Students will have a chance to meet administrators, their school counselors and social workers in addition to student volunteers representing grades ten through twelve. They will be able to have their questions answered, try out their lockers and experience team building activities. In addition, students will learn about the resources and clubs available at Clarkstown South and experience a tour of the high school. Finally, we will review safety measures in place at Clarkstown South and review procedures for practice drills.

Students will be able to pick up their school-issued laptops on this day in the school library.  NOTE: Parents/guardians must complete the CCSD Loaner Form beforehand.  To minimize damage to the devices, it is recommended to use a laptop sleeve for protection.  These will be available for purchase during the orientation.

I have attached the Resources of Clarkstown High School South form. This form is a quick reference for parents and students about the resources available at Clarkstown South. This form is also available on Clarkstown South’s web page under South’s Class Corner Class of 2026.”

On the first day of school, please bring pens/pencils, a notebook/paper, and your laptop.  Teachers will provide a syllabus with any additional school supplies necessary for their course.

We look forward to welcoming our newest Vikings to our Viking family!

    Sincerely,

Mrs. Alissa Baka, Assistant Principal and Freshmen Orientation Coordinator

    Mrs. Debra Tarantino, Principal
