    Dear Parents and Guardians,

The health and safety of all students and staff is our top priority.  As a school nurse caring for your children in the Clarkstown Central School District my goal is to aid in the prevention, control, and spread of all communicable illnesses and infections.  To help achieve these goals I would like to share the following information with you.

If your child is complaining of nausea, ear pain, sore throat, or lacks an appetite, he/she may be ill.  The following guidelines will help you make the decision to keep your child home.

    • Are awaiting Covid or strep test results
    • Are complaining of sore throat and it appears red
    • Are complaining of nausea or vomiting within 24 hours
    • Have had a fever over 100 degrees in the last 24 hours
    • Have a suspicious rash
    • Have a red, draining, itchy eye

I understand that it is difficult when your child becomes ill and needs to stay home from school.  Following these guidelines will help keep our school community healthy.  In the event your child becomes ill while in school, we must be able to contact you to pick them up as soon as possible.  Please have an emergency contact available to pick up your child during the school day if necessary.  Please keep all contact numbers up to date.

Please remember to call or email the school nurse if your child will be late or absent.

Pack a healthy lunch & snack.

Keep an extra change of clothes in their locker.

Physicals & dentals are due in grades K, 1, 3, & 5.  Please email or fax your child’s most recent physical and dental.

Contact me with any questions or concerns.  You can call, email, or make an appointment to meet with me.

Have a great school year!  Stay healthy & safe!
