The World Languages Department at North allows students to explore languages and cultures using a hands-on and interactive approach. Our program allows students the option of choosing from five different languages of study: American Sign Language, French, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish. As a World Language student, students will communicate in the target language in a variety of settings, learn about diverse customs and traditions, and draw connections between their own cultures and the culture studied. In addition to their coursework, students have the opportunity to take on leadership roles through participation in our various language clubs. Our goal as a department is for students to continue the study of languages and cultures beyond high school and become an active member of the global community.
