• Television and Radio Communications

The Department of Communications subscribes to a multi-faceted philosophy that incorporates many objectives. Students are provided with theoretical, hands-on, historical, and technical foundations that they later use in college communications programs and their eventual fields of employment. Students have access to several types of cameras (DSLR, GoPro, camcorders, larger cameras), audio (mics, portable mixers), lights (Fresnel and Kino), and can do post production on Apple computers with the Adobe Master Collection, Final Cut X, and many other software programs. All participants are exposed to all elements of a TV studio production involving positions in front of the camera, as well as positions behind the scenes.

All productions are evaluated for content, style, imagination, and technical competence. Students are encouraged to work towards projects that can earn awards, screen in festivals, online, and win local, state, and national awards.
