Incarcerated Youth

  • The Clarkstown Central School District provides educational services for incarcerated youth at the Rockland County Jail located in New City, NY. According to the New York State Education Department’s regulations all students under 21 who have not yet received a diploma have the right to educational services. The Office of Pupil Personnel is responsible for the provision of these services. If you have any questions, please call 845-639-6475.

    S 3202.7 Education of Incarcerated Youth

    “Youth incarcerated in county correctional facilities or youth shelters. 

    A person under twenty-one years of age who has not received a high school diploma and who is incarcerated in a correctional facility maintained by a county or by the city of New York or in a youth shelter is eligible for educational services pursuant to this subdivision and in accordance with the regulations of the commissioner. Such services shall be provided by the school district in which the facility or youth shelter is located…”
