Welcome back Little Tor family! It is my pleasure to welcome you and your child to a new and exciting school year. The staff and I are overjoyed to be able to return to school this September to build upon the progress of last year in a traditional school year. I sincerely hope you were able to find some time to have an enjoyable, restful summer and are now ready to begin a new school year at Little Tor in a positive way.
My priority on a daily basis is to ensure that every student in our school community is provided the highest quality of education possible in a safe, comfortable, and supportive learning environment. Working together as a team with our staff and parents, I am committed to helping each student achieve his/her very best in all aspects of the whole child; the physical self, the emotional self, the social self, the cognitive self, and the creative self. Every student is valued and worthy of our collective best efforts, and through our teamwork, we can together watch each child grow to their fullest potential in every aspect of their lives; academically, socially, and emotionally.
I believe that communication is crucial to the success of each school year given the updates and information that must be passed along to you as parents and families. Please note that much of our correspondence will be via email, and will be as frequent as necessary. You should be receiving emails from me updating you on our school happenings and important information at least once per week. Be on the lookout for my Friday afternoon Weekly Update emails!
To that end, if you have not already done so, I encourage you to become a member of our Parent Teacher Association. Our newly elected Co-Presidents, Ms. Kathy Peterson and Ms. Dahlia Sayegh, alongside the PTA Board and many dedicated volunteers, support our children and our school community through a number of programs, school events, and family-oriented functions. These events enrich our students’ lives, and provide meaningful, fun opportunities for them to grow and learn. Our goal in support of our PTA is always 100% membership, and I am working with the PTA Board to plan a fantastic school year for our children.
I look forward to working collaboratively with you, your children, our staff, and the greater Little Tor community to ensure that the 2023-2024 school year is a positive, engaging, and successful experience for everyone.
Best wishes for an exceptional and fulfilling school year!
Matthew Younghans, Ed.D.
