Literacy Corner

An excellent resource to search when you are looking for books is Novelist K-8 which is provided by the New City Public Library. The link I have here will not work at school but will work from your home computer. You must sign in using the number on the back of your library card. This will bring you to the page of Student Databases. They are in alphabetical order; scroll down to NoveList K-8. To find the page manually, go to the New City Library Homepage, click on Databases, go to the tab on the top which says Students or use this link.

Kids Read	A good place for kids to read adult-written, short reviews. Information about new books. Some games, author information, features, etc.
Reading Rainbow	This part of the site has a list of books and 30-second or so reviews. Many of them are video clips.
Nancy Keene	Nancy is the queen of booktalkers. She has a huge website (see the link above) of lists and booktalks; she's authored books of booktalks; this page is her podcasts. I don't think her voice is as exciting as the Reading Rainbow kids, but interesting material.
Booktalk!	This site gives lots of how-to-booktalk information as well as links to other book sites that provide age-appropriate lists, reviews, etc.
