What: RCMEA Senior All-County Festival
This is a 2-day Music
Festival with outstanding student musicians (grades 10-12) from Rockland
County. There are three Senior All-County Ensembles: Band, Orchestra and Mixed
Chorus. Students are chosen by the RCMEA Senior All-County committee, with
selections based primarily on students' NYSSMA ratings and previous festival
experience. Competition is fierce since Rockland County has many outstanding
student musicians. It is a high honor to be selected and requires a strong
commitment.
When:
February 3, 4, 2006
Friday afternoon and
evening (usually 3:45 to 9:00) is spent in intensive rehearsals and
sectionals
(with a dinner break). There is a Saturday morning rehearsal
(usually 9:00 to 12:00) followed by
lunch, dress rehearsals and then a formal
evening concert beginning late Saturday afternoon. Before applying check your
calendar commitments. STUDENTS MUST ATTEND ALL REHEARSALS. No exceptions
will be
made.
Where: Ramapo High School
Costs: Your participation
fee will be paid by the District. You may wish to buy tickets, t-shirts, meals
and/or snacks while at the Festival, etc. More details to
follow.
What Happens If I'm
Selected?
Upon selection you will receive a music folder filled with pieces to be learned.
Your Senior All-County conductor will send you a letter with any special
information. You're expected to learn all your music so that you come to the
first Festival rehearsal ready to put it all together with the other musicians. Extra-help rehearsals at South H.S. will be scheduled, but you must also take
your festival music to your private lessons to help you master the material.
How to
Apply:
Get the appropriate application sheet (for VOCAL or BAND/ORCHESTRA). Complete
application form and return it with a copy of your latest NYSSMA Rating Sheet. No
late applications can be accepted.
