Students will learn the fundamentals of producing and broadcasting shows for the morning and afternoon drive times.  Students will be responsible for programming, writing, and maintaining an ongoing broadcast schedule for WVIK-1700 AM, the Clarkstown High School South radio station.  They will also learn how to use various software programs in order to edit downloaded music and to create original compositions and public service announcements using multi-tracking.  In addition to these requirements, students will develop a one-half hour talk show format during the second semester.

Special Topics in Radio Production I (603) and II (605)

Weeks: 40

Units: 1

These courses are for students who have successfully completed Radio Production and who are interested in staying in the program.  Both of these courses are run as independent study courses.  A plan of study will contain goals and objectives for the student to accomplish.  Skills learned in Radio Production are taken to the next levels of proficiency.  In addition to being responsible for writing and producing shows, students will write and produce talk show formats, and be available for mentoring those students who are taking Radio production.  Internships at local radio stations are available where possible.
