ATHLETIC MISSION STATEMENT
High School athletics is a vital part of Clarkstown North, and like all parts of the high school, should reflect a concern for intellectual, moral and social values, and for the pursuit of excellence. North is committed to academic and athletic excellence, sound practices, enhancement of the physical and educational welfare of student-athletes, equal opportunity, character development, as well as the fundamental values of sportsmanship, civility, and the common virtue of good citizenship.
Clarkstown North is committed to the principles of fair play and a competitive experience for our athletes. We adhere to the rules of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association, Inc. In addition, Clarkstown North subscribes to the code of ethics of the NYSPHSAA and these are:
IT IS THE DUTY OF ALL CONCERNED WITH HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS:
To emphasize the proper ideals of sportsmanship, ethical conduct and fair play.
To eliminate all possibilities which tend to destroy the best values of the game.
To stress the values derived from playing the game fairly.
To show cordial courtesy to visiting teams and officials.
To establish a happy relationship between visitors and hosts.
To respect the integrity and judgment of the sports officials.
To achieve thorough understanding and acceptance of the rules of the game and standards of eligibility.
To encourage leadership, use of incentive, and good judgment by the players on the team.
To recognize that the purpose of athletics is to promote the physical, mental, moral, social, and emotional well-being of the individual players.
To remember that an athletic contest is only a game........not a matter of life or death for player, coach, school, official, fan, community, state or nation.
