Attendance Policy: When your child is going to be absent Please call the Nurse's office at 624-3494 prior to to start of the day of the absence. You can leave a message on the Nurse's answering machine between the hours of 4 P.M. and 7:45 A.M. Kindly state the student's name, grade, teacher, days absent and reason of absence. Following an absence from school: The child is required to submit a written excuse on the day of return. The note should be written and signed by the parent/guardian and include the date(s) of and the reason for the absence. When a child is ill in School: We request that the emergency contact(s) person that is listed on the form resides locally for the benefit of the child. It is most distressing for a sick or injured child to have to wait for someone to come to school from out of the immediate area. Kids Health for Parents - health guide for parents. General Guidelines To keep your child healthy and for the benefit of all the children we suggest the following: Temperature: If your child has an elevated temperature (over 100) in the evening or morning before school and symptoms of a cold, cough or sore throat, keep him/her home and seek the advice of your physician. A child should remain at home for 24 hours following an elevated temperature. Strep Throat: If your child is tested for strep throat, they should remain home while awaiting results of a throat culture. You must have your child on medication for 48 hours after having a positive strep culture. If your child returns to school in less than 48 hours, you MUST send in a doctor's note stating that your child is NOT CONTAGIOUS and may return to school. Vomiting: If your child vomits the evening or morning before school, keep him/her at home and monitor for 24 hours. Rash: If your child has a rash that is itchy or oozing, keep him/her home and seek the advice of your physician. Lice: Check your child's hair on a daily basis for lice. If you treat your child, please report the treatment to your school nurse. This will assist the nurse in cont rolling the spread of lice.Lice Information Red Eyes: Red, itchy eyes with discharge. Child should be kept home and seek the advice of your physician. |
