The children performed
the King in the Kitchen, a play
featured in our Reading Streets reading anthology. The goal was to
strengthen fluency and expression through performance. The children
opted to play parts not typical for their gender so that they could
further push their power of voice and expression. Therefore, Connor
played the part of the Princess, Megan played the King, and Stephanie
played the Peasant who seeks to marry the princess. The other roles
where Daniel playing the Duke and 1st Kitchen Maid, Kevin playing the
Guard and 2nd Kitchen Maid, and Sara playing the Cook. It was performed
for all three kindergarten classes and was a huge success!
