Young Author's Celebration May 2004
PhotoJam Presentation of the "Young Author's Celebration"
The "Young Author's Celebration" is our way of acknowledging the hard work and determination that our 519 students have put forth in creating a piece of history, a book! Throughout the week, we planned many exciting activities to commemorate this special occasion that provide the students with different forums to proudly share their stories.
During this week of "celebration" all children have the opportunity to read their original stories, poems and nonfiction publications to their peers, members of the school and district staff, senior groups, dignitaries, and parents at various Author's Teas. The books were on display at Open House so that the students can share their works with their parents and other visitors.
The publication of quality student works marks the culmination of their learning successes during Reading and Writer's Workshop. This celebration would not be possible without the dedication and commitment of our teaching staff to literacy learning and children. Equally important, the dedication, hard work and contributions made by parent volunteers who staffed our School Publication Center are deserving of our gratitude.
