LINK FOSSILS

Two future paleontologists, Michael and Parker,
from Mrs. Hugger’s class, uncovered the first trilobite fossil which
set off a fossil frenzy at Link. To date, the children have found close to
50 fossils and imprints during their lunch recess on the Link playgrounds.
These arthropods flourished in the sea between 245 million and
550 million years ago, from the Cambrian through the Permian Age.
Since their discovery, in May 2000, many other Link students have
uncovered fossils on Link's playground. After talking to parent
geologists, we have learned that most of these fossils were deposited
here by the glaciers that picked them up from the highlands of New York and then when
it began to melt and recede it dropped them here, leaving them for you to find on
the surface of the earth.
Read about their finds below and see them displayed in the library.
