Spies Are Among Us!!!!!!
By Brooke

Patriots, you are in trouble!!!!! British spies are on the loose! Benedict Arnold, commander of West Point, has given the plans of West Point to Major John Andre, a British spy, for 10,000 pounds. Joshua Hett Smith also played an important role in this treason plot. Arnold, Beverly Robinson, and Andre met at Joshua Hett Smith’s house planning. Smith took Arnold to the Vulture, a British ship. Andre and Robinson are finding a way to get to the safe place the Vulture is landing. Arnold was going to replace a link from the chain and put a rope in its place. The reason West Point is so important to the British is if they control West Point ,they control the Hudson River.  If they control the Hudson River, they can get the goods and they will win the war.

Major John Andre has been captured and is a prisoner in the '76 House. The plans have been found in his boots and have not reached the British General Clinton. The coded plans used numbers and there was a map of all of West  Point's weaknesses. The trial was in the Old Dutch Church in Tappan, and Major Andre got hung for being a British spy. Arnold escaped to New York and joined the British forces. Thankfully Andre was capture! What do you think would happened if he was not captured?
