ROCKLAND COUNTY MAP

Locate the following places on the map.

1.  TREASON HOUSE - Joshua Hett Smith's house was used by Major Andre and Benedict 
                                        Arnold. Here it was agreed that Arnold should replace one of the 
                                        iron links that blocked the Hudson River with rope.

2.  TAPPAN - The hamlet where Major Andre was held prisoner, put on trial, and hung as
                         a spy.

3.  TARRYTOWN - On his way to Sir Henry Clinton, the British Commander-in-Chief,     
                                  Major Andre was captured here by three American militia 
                                  men who found the plans to West Point in his boots.

4.   WEST POINT FORT - This fort was built to protect and control the Hudson River. An 
                                             iron link chain was stretched across the Hudson River to 
                                             prevent British ships from sailing up it during the American
                                             Revolutionary War.
