A British Spy Was Captured
10,000 pounds sterling for whoever finds
Benedict Arnold
By Pearse
What is this about you ask? I will tell you. We have found out that Benedict Arnold, commander of the fort at West Point, has turned into a traitor. He was working with the British to sell the plans for West Point for 10,000 pounds sterling. We have found the British spy, Major John Andre, working with Benedict Arnold with the plans in his boots. He was heading to British General Clinton to hand the plans over to him but three patriots on patrol captured him on his journey. Andre was held at the '76 House during his trial at the Dutch Church in Tappan. He was convicted and hung. We have also arrested Joshua Hett Smith for knowing about Arnold’s plan and vacating his house so Arnold and Major Andre could meet in private. Arnold has escaped and is fighting for the British right now. Although we haven’t caught Benedict Arnold, we will keep trying.
