The East India Company, a British trading company, has commissioned you to find “The Lost Treasure of Captain Kidd”. William Kidd was a British privateer (A privateer ship is a warship that is privately owned, but has government permission, a “Letter of Marque”, to attack enemy ships. The privateer must split any spoils with the government) and a pirate in the 17th century. He was captured by the British, tried and hung on May 23, 1701 for attacking the Quedah Merchant, an East India cargo ship with French papers, loaded with valuables worth 710,000 pounds. Before he was captured, it is believed that Captain Kidd buried some of his plundered treasure along the East coast of the United States possibly even on the shores of the Hudson River.
